1.) So far wala namang daga or pusa na umaakyat sa housing ko (likely marami silang pagkain sa labas kaya hindi na pumupunta sa housing ko), but have experience those predators (rats, cats, dogs, cobra, pythons, and thieves) back when i used to work for a poultry integrator. zinc phosphide, snares,  a suppressed .22cal airgun, and an m2 carbine for thieves were  our best defense. (^_^) Magandang idea din yung "removable" cage/screen mo sa small scale brooding ko, will take note of that, thanks!
2.) infra red heating is ok, but wala pa kasing electricity sa site, kaya charcoal brooding muna ako at lampara soehnle professional as lighting (not recommended yung lampara, not enough lighting and costly), 100 heads lang naman kasi, so hindi masyado practical sa akin. pag nakabili na ng electric wiring yung grower ko (yes, contract growing yan, small scale lang...hehehe!), magkakabit na kami ng flourescent lighting as heat source and CFL or LED bulbs for lighting at night.
3.) soehnle professional sadya bukas ang triangular opening kahit gabi to provide adequate air ventilation and exchange, wala namang draft and comfortable naman ang sisiw ko. hindi maganda na balot na balot yung brooding soehnle professional area mo kasi makaka affect yan sa air quality. what's important is hindi nilalamig soehnle professional yung sisiw, walang draft, at fresh parati yung air, malaking contribution po nito sa performance ng manok.
4.) rice hull is ok, pero hindi necessary for my small scale operation. 1 day lang ang newspaper tapos inaalis ko na yan. tapos pinapalitan ng sako. masipag naman yung grower magpalit ng new sacks pag may ipot na at nilalabhan yung madumi. if na notice ninyo, balot din yung ilalim ng sako kaya kahit newspaper lang ay adequate na siya...pero sa next grow ko ay susubukan ko rin yung "newspaper+rice hull+newspaper" na ginagamit ko dati sa malalaking farms para tingnan kung meron talagang soehnle professional difference in terms of flock performance.

3.) soehnle professional No casualties so far, pero I had to cull out 4 defective chicks at day 7. Total lahat sa box ay 103 kasi pagbilang namin at day 28 is 99 silang lahat, sold 2 already at P88/kg, so 97 nalang soehnle professional natira...
